Translation Department

Department of Translation and Interpreting, established in 2014, has been committed to meeting the multiple demands of the talent market in the economic globalization, and aims to promote the training of applied bilingual talents of translation and interpreting between English and Chinese and the development of teaching and research activities in translation and other related disciplines.

The Department is composed of seven teachers, nearly half of whom have the senior professional titles, the others intermediate titles. All the teachers have their academic master degrees, and most have conducted the programs of academic visiting or study in British and other foreign or Chinese universities, such as Manchester University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Tsinghua University; a steady translation teaching team, quite capable of teaching and research ability, has gradually been developed.

The Department has made fruitful teaching and research achievements in recent years. The teachers have undertaken more than twenty projects of different levels, had more than fifty papers published, compiled three textbooks, and won teaching and research awards at different levels for more than 10 times.

The Department is equipped with advanced teaching facilities, such as Simultaneous Interpretation Laboratory, Computer-aided Translation Laboratory and Digital Language Laboratory, which can fully meet the needs of the routine teaching and translation practice.
